Why avoid uploading?
Turning a PDF into Word usually means uploading it to an online service. If the PDF contains anything sensitive — a contract, a CV with your address, a report, a form — uploading hands it to a third party you have to trust. The good news: you don’t need to.
Convert PDF to Word in your browser — step by step
1. Open the converter. Go to the PDF to Word tool. It loads entirely in your browser; there’s no sign-up.
2. Add your PDF. Drag it onto the drop zone or click to browse. The file is read on your device — it is never uploaded.
3. Choose Word (DOCX). Select Word as the output format.
4. Convert and save. Click Convert and save the editable .docx to your computer. You can now open and edit it in Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice.
What gets preserved
Headings, bold and italic text, bulleted and numbered lists, alignment, and embedded images are carried into the Word file. Because the conversion runs in the browser rather than a full Office engine, very complex tables, exact fonts, and multi-column layouts are simplified into a clean, editable document — which is usually what you want when the goal is to edit the content.
A note on scanned PDFs
This method works on digital, text-based PDFs. If your PDF is a scan (an image of a page), there’s no selectable text to extract unless it has already been run through OCR. In that case you’d need an OCR step first.
